How the whole idea started
My first computer was an Commodore 64 (I still remember that one), and
since then I have been fascinated in computers and kept on upgrading. By
the internet coming to the world, I have even spent more time on the
computer in general. Once, I was trying to find some good arabic sites in
1998, and to tell you the truth, it was really hard
finding any good sites, I had to search for ages in serach engines.... So I had this small idea, to make
a site with just "links" on it, this way I hoped
that everybody who was looking for arabic sites could find them in my
links site and therefor don't have to spend hours seraching and
searching... I even hosted it on AOL and started to
become some more visitors.
1998 December- My small links site has reached the 50 visitors
which were mostly invited by me ( I used to send a lot of emails to
friends telling them to come and visit it, haha...)
1999 February- I have added over 300 Links, plus a German
category (still hosting on AOL)
1999 April- I have added more tools and joined some good banner
exchange, the site has reached the 1200 visitors.
1999 Mai- After a hard month of exams, I came back to work on my
site after receiving sooooooo many emails from people thanking me
1999 June- There are no Arabic Webmaster sites on the internet!
I have just realized that! so I started to build some more tools for arabic webmaster ( I am hosting now on FreeCity.com )
1999 August- I am back from the USA where I have spent some time
and learned more about Flash, I have added some flash to my site, plus
over 50 full versions softwares.
1999 November- I have bought my first domain name
"gentelsam.com" , well the name comes from being a gentleman and my name
samer so gentelsam... Hope you liked it
1999 December- Over 10000 visitors to our new domain now. I am
feeling really happy now!
2000 February- I got some emails asking me to add more arabic
music to my site, which I am doing.
2000 March- I have just decided to make a site to my favourite
singer Wael Kfouri ( there is not 1 site about him). I called the site
http://www.WaelKfouri.cjb.net
2000 Mai- I have learned a lot, a lot about HTML now and started
to make more interactive sites ( the domain now has over 20 sites on it)
2000 September- Back from vacation again, the site has been
really down a long time and the music files I used to have Online don't
exist anymore... I have to work on all the songs again... this is so much
work...
2000 December- I am joining more German webmaster community and
we are sharing some tips. Still working on Wael Kfouri Site (adding more
photos, mp3...)
2001 February- http://gentelsam.com site is now in almost every search
engine to be listed in the top 20
2001 March- Oh nooooo! the music files are down again! This time
I am going to stop linking to other music sites ( they keep closing...)
2001 April- Bought a new domain
called Arames.com ( Arames comes from the word Arame which was the
FIRST arabic king to be mentioned in the holy bible. And then they called
all the arabic kings that wanted to follow his steps the "Arames".
Plus a very nice story is that my grandfather used to have an arabic
newspaper back in 1924 and he called it Arames, so I chose to follow his
steps and called my site www.arames.com),
hope you like the name. In Arabic
2001 Mai- Working on the webmaster tools, and adding more
softwares to our software page. We have now round 200 visitors daily.
Opened a new Top Sites for Webmaster and called it
http://awael.arames.com ( Awael
Sites)
2001 June- My site for Wael Kfouri is a real big hit now and has
round 5000 visitors every month! I am working on ArabiaTarab Site which I
hope will be a big big project!
2001 July- Opened a new Site called
http://www.arabic-web.de , the site
has meanly politics news, chat rooms, cards and more..
2001 August- Our Awael Top Site has a very high reach of
Webmasters ( round 100 sites in it!!!), and opening of a new Era in Banner
Exchange called
http://www.arames.com/bannerex/
2001 September- The webmaster tools site is really having a big
success ( even bigger then I thought, hmmm... I hope it will always remain
like this). I am working now harder on ArabiaTarab.com site after this
success on of Awael Community ( over 300 webmaster have joined, this makes
us the number 1 arabic webmaster community on the web)
2001 October- New opening of Wael Kfouri site under
http://www.arames.com/wael/ as
well as our new forum has gained more attention from members
http://forum.arames.com.
We are still working on the Radio Stations...
2001 November- This is my 5 months that I am working on
ArabiaTarab, I really hope people will like the site...Opening
of a new Store Called The ArabiaTarab Stars Store,
you can now just add the photo of your favorit arabic star on it , upload
it and order it. I think this is just great, you can have all the
T-shirts, Mugs, Mousepads, Hats and stuff with your own favorite photos...
I have even ordered some to try them if they are really as good as they
say. 4 days later, I have received the 1 T-Shirt, 1 Mug, 1 Hat, and 1
Mousepad, they look great, I have uploaded the photo of ArabiaTarab on
them. You can take a look at them here.
Here are some friends that help me build this
site.

sure. Thank you for all the good tips, photos, graphics, softwares,
design, news...... and everything you did.
